Finestpreps.com has decided to join the hype and put together a Pre Season All Swag Team. After hours of traveling, film evaluation, and discussions with the area’s top coaches, Finestpreps.com’s staff was able to single out a few of Western PA’s Finest.
QB- Perry Hills- Pittsburgh Central Catholic
Hill’s may be the most college ready QB in the entire WPIAL. Blessed with an excellent frame, Hill’s can make all the throw’s and also show’s some mobility. The Maryland commit looks to lead the Central Catholic Vikings to a WPIAL Championship this season with an impressive supporting cast.
RB- Rushel Shell- Hopewell
No introduction is needed for this playmaker that has been a household name in the college football recruiting world for the past three years. Shell reminds Finestpreps.com of Rashard Mendenhall with his impressive size, speed, and skill set. Look for Shell to continue to shatter records and potentially rush for the most yards in WPIAL history.
RB- Greg Garmon- Erie Mcdowell
Garmon is one of the most explosive athlete’s in the country. If your questioning his ability just ask the 30+ Universities that have offered this speedster scholarships. Garmon looks to continue where he left of in his Junior campaign and make a stake for top player in the state of PA.
WR- Trenton Coles- Clairton
One word is typically said when Trenton Coles name is brought into a discussion. SPEED. This 6’3 burner creates matchup problem’s for almost any defensive back with not only his height, but the fact that he is the state champion in the 100m and 200m doesn’t hurt his cause either. The Pitt commit’s freakish speed makes him one of the most intriguing prospects in the state of PA.
WR- Corey Jones- Penn Hills
One of Finestpreps.com’s favorite player’s because of his position versatility. When Jone’s isn’t prancing into the end zone after a 70 yd touchdown reception you might find him deciding which way he wants to score next. Last season Jones rushed, received, punt returned, kick returned, and intercepted his way to pay dirt. Jones is easily the most dangerous player in the state and may be one of the most electrifying players in the country.
TE- Jesse James- South Allegheny
At times trying to figure out whether James is part of the WPIAL or the WWF is difficult. Saying the 6’7 250lb senior looks the part is an understatement. Especially when you get to see him show his jets with his 4.6 speed. Jame’s is an athletic giant who cause’s matchup problems for everyone on the field. Look for him to be a major contributor for the Nittany Lions in the future.
OG- Ian Park- Upper St. Clair
Look no further than Ian Park as the reason why the Upper St. Clair team is Finestpreps.com’s favorite to win the WPIAL AAAA. Park is a large human being that runs through everything in his way. The bruising guard that is headed to Northwestern with bash brother Jack Scwhaba paves the way for Upper St. Clair’s highly efficient ground game.
OT- Pat Kugler- North Allegheny
Just when you thought you had enough of North Allegheny you realize that many pieces of that state Championship team are back. One of the more highly regarded names making a return for Art Walker is Patrick Kugler, son of Steeler offensive line coach, Sean Kugler and brother of Robert Kugler, one of the most dominant forces in the WPIAL during the 2010 season. Kugler takes after his brother with his physicality. Kugler loves to finish defenders and understands the technical aspect of blocking. Kugler outweighs his brother and shows major potential to become a dominant offensive lineman. Look for this Junior to begin to rack up some major scholarship offers and dominate during North Allegheny’s 2011 campaign.
OT- Adam Bisnowaty- Fox Chapel
Bisnowaty has been in the limelight it seems like for years. It’s finally this Seniors turn to be the guy. After being around some great players as an underclassmen, Bisnowaty is ready to turn the page and write his own legacy. This athletic giant is violent at the point of attack and shows some good natural blocking instincts. Bisnowaty’s team will be dealing with a coaching change, but look for Adam to continue dominating opposing defenders.
OG- Christian Wilson- Mckeesport
Seem’s like Mckeesport just keeps’s reloading with blue chip prospects. The red, white and blue are blessed with the presence of one of the WPIAL’s largest men, Christian Wilson. Wilson’s presence alone is disruptive, defenders understand that collisions with Wilson are bad business decision’s so it causes all defenders to get on the Christian Wilson detour. Wilson also shows athleticism with his ability to get to the second level effortlessly. As Wilson continues to develop as an offensive lineman look for him to really become a dominating presence.
OT- Logan Dietz- Central Catholic
The theme of the offensive lineman has been big. What better way to conclude with the offensive lineman that to introduce 6’8 270lb Logan Dietz. Dietz is part of the supporting cast for Perry Hill’s that is expected to win a WPIAL Championship in 2011. Dietz is just an enormous human being that fits the billing of an offensive tackle. Dietz is another big guy that shows impressive athleticism at times. Don’t be surprised if you see the 6’8 tackle pulling like a guard to reach the second level to pancake a linebacker.
S- Demetrious Cox- Jeannette
It all looks t0o familiar when you see “DeDe” rocking the #2 for the Jayhawks. This safety/qb is one of the hardest hitting players in the entire WPIAL. Cox takes pride in his ability to end a wide receivers day with his bone crushing hits. Be sure to bring some smelling salts if you decide to pay Cox a visit in Jeannette on a Friday Night.
S- Anthony Nixon- Central Catholic
This Maryland commit and track star is one of the most versatile players in the WPIAL. Nixon always looks comfortable on the football field and will surprise you when he comes downhill and lays the wood from the safety position. Nixon is another special player that will be suiting up for Terry Totten’s Viking’s in there road to a championship.
CB- Reggie Mitchell- Shady Side Academy
Finestpreps.com was one the first ones to jump on the Reggie Mitchell bandwagon. Wisconsin also gladly hopped on the bandwagon and become the new home for the Shady Side signal caller. Mitchell’s lean 6’1 frame and quick feet typically keep him in position to make plays as a corner. Look for Mitchell to be a major impact player for the Shady Side program.
CB- Marzett Geter- Sto- Rox
Sto- Rox is quietly churning out division one players consistently these last couple years. The latest one to receive a division 1 offer was speedster Marzett Geter. Geter, an underrated player lets his game do all the talking on the field. This shut down corner is physical and plays with a little bit of a nastiness to him. When opposing receivers can get off the line, Geter shows that he can run with anyone and also has impressive ball skills. Geter and his Sto-Rox buddies are a early favorite along with the Clairton Bears to take single A in the WPIAL.
LB- Dakota Conwell- Upper St. Clair
Finestpreps.com admits that the staff does have there favorites. Dakota Conwell is certainly one of those favorites. Dakota doubles as Upper St. Clair’s signal caller and standout outside linebacker. The Pitt commit could have easily made this list at multiple positions. Conwell is rocking adidas in his picture above, but he certainly understands the meaning of “Just Do It”. Dakota just gets it done as not only a linebacker, but also as a QB. Conwell is one of the most fluid linebackers in the state and is always a threat to make a impact play. Look for Conwell’s Upper St. Clair squad to make a deep run into the playoffs.
LB- Jaylen Coleman- University Prep
When putting together your prototypical linebacker you may end up with something similar to Coleman’s frame. This 6’1 230lb snot bubbler will shock you with his speed. Coleman has all the intangibles to become a great linebacker. Coleman plays the game with a sense of urgency and loves to unleash violence on ball carriers.
LB- Mike Caprara- Woodland Hills
Seems like Caprara has been playing in the WPIAL for 10 years. Coming from a long line of Caprara’s this Woody High backer is one of the most productive players in the state. Caprara makes tackle after tackle playing through all obstacles. When you turn on Woodland Hills defensive tape you will be sure to see Caprara flying all over the field making tackles for the Wolverines. Undersized Caprara reminds you of so many other Western PA linebacker legends. Look for Caprara to lead a Woodland Hills squad that will be sure to overachieve this year.
DE- Deaysean Rippy- Sto-Rox
Rippy joins Marzett Geter on this list as the Sto-Rox representatives. Rippy one of the more highly regarded players in the country has plenty of hype around him. This 6’3 200lb pass rush specialist understands what finding the quarterback means. Rippy is an extremely athletic pass rusher who likes to bully quarterbacks. Deaysean holds offers from some of the most prestigious football programs in the country like USC and Alabama. Look for this blue chip recruit to leave his stamp all over opposing qb’s in single A.
DE- Waylon Fink- Greensburg Salem
Fink is completely opposite from our other DE chosen Deaysean Rippy. Fink is a guy that few people other than college coaches are aware about. This DE/TE has one of the quickest steps in the WPIAL and plays with a non stop motor. Fink loves running down plays from behind and certainly doesn’t shy away from contact. Look for Fink to introduce himself to many offensive coordinators this Fall.
DT- Tyrique Jarrett- Allderdice
When your 6’4 320lb and you can move you would think you would be a household name. For Tyrique Jarrett this was not the case at all. Not until Finestpreps.com discovered this Mammoth did he receive his first scholarship. Jarrett may be one of the best prospects in the country with his ridiculously large frame. Not until you see Jarrett try and dunk will you understand how athletic this BIG MAN really is. Potential wise this guy may have the highest ceiling out of all these prospects.
DT- Treyvon Hester- Penn Hills
What better way to close out this All Swag team than to end with the Chief of the Penn Hills Indians, Treyvon Hester. The grown man is the most polished lineman in the WPIAL on both sides of the ball. Watching Hester play allows you to understand what separates boys from men. Hester is a dominating force that plays violent, fast and physical. Finestpreps.com hasn’t seen a lineman this exciting since Aaron Donald the former Penn Hills Indian that now stars for the Pitt Panthers. If Hester is anything similar to Donald look for him to dominate and lead the Indians to a potential WPIAL championship.
