Most fans of High School football aren’t familiar with the name Clintell Gillaspie, but just ask any Clairton fan how explosive this 230 pound wrecking ball is. With the size and athleticism most coaches are dying to place on their rosters, it’s a crime this Greyhound hasn’t picked up more offers.
At 6’1 230, surprisingly what makes this playmaker special isn’t his size and strength, but more so his pure athleticism. Of course we wouldn’t mistake him for Barry Sanders, but with a D1 frame already, Gillaspie shows the ability to make people miss in space and is a major threat in the passing game. With the success of hybrid H-backs like Delani Walker, the H-Back position has all of sudden become a need at the college and professional level.
After Monessen ended the Clairton winning streak behind Gillaspie’s legs, he has began to gain more attention after his eye popping performance with multiple runs over 50 yards. The Hound even shows some ability to play at the linebacker position, but ultimately with the versatility he shows on the offensive side it would be tough not to try and get the ball in his hands. Preps.com will continue to follow Gillaspie throughout the season and keep fans updated on his recruitment. Below are Clintell’s Mid Season Highlights.
