Finestpreps.com has done a great job identifying the top talent in Erie the past couple years. Last year Erie Mcdowell’s Greg Garmon was the talk of the town, now Delton Williams and Damion Terry from Cathedral Prep are getting some national attention.
If you ask any football coach they will tell you that defensive linemen are a premium. The impact a good defensive lineman can have in a game is obvious with the successes of the 2 time Super Bowl champ New York Giants. With that said it doesn’t make sense that defensive lineman James Connor has stayed so far under the radar. This 6’2 235lb pass rusher fits the mold that every coach is looking for. Not only does Connor have the size, but also shows ridiculous athleticism. Connor is so athletic that sometimes he lines up in the backfield and totes the rock.
Currently Connor only holds offers from Youngstown State, but as coaches make their runs during the May evaluation period look for Connor to start racking up some BCS offers. Rarely do you see someone with his size and athleticism. Erie prospects have treated the Big Ten quite well over the last couple years, but don’t be surprised to see Connor receive some SEC attention once coaches get a chance to see him at work.
