After giving it considerable thought, Cardinal O’Hara quarteraback Dashawn Darden has chosen to attend prep school at Wyoming Seminary College for a year after he graduates this spring. Darden, a three-year starter at Cardinal O’Hara, felt as though this would give him the best opportunities to earn a football scholarship.
Grades and production certainly weren’t the issue with Darden’s decision to go the prep route. Darden currently maintains a 3.0 grade point average and scored 1100 during the last time he took the SAT’s. The 5’10”, 190 pound, quarterback put up some of the best numbers ever by a Cardinal O’Hara quarterback.
Here’s a look at Darden’s career totals:
*30 career starts
*4,574 all-purpose career yards
*58 career touchdowns, 14 career interceptions
*Second in Cardinal O’Hara’s record book in career touchdowns behind Kevin Jones
*Second in career passing yards behind Tom Savage by only 60 yards
*1st in career touchdowns
By going the prep route, Darden looks to prove that he can indeed play quarterback at the collegiate level despite being being under six-feet tall. It’ll also give him a chance to develop as a quarterback and get some better options in 2015.
