Cardinal O’Hara quarterback Dashawn Darden (Class of 2014) has been on the preps.com radar for the last few years now.  In his breakout season in 2012, Darden threw for over 1,600 yards and 20 touchdown passes.  The 2013 edition of the Cardinal O’Hara Lions football team has to be considered one of the best that it has assembled in the past four to five years.  With skill players such as Darden, Thadd Smith (Boston College commit), and J.T. Blyden (UMass commit), Cardinal O’Hara could contend for a PIAA AAA State Championship.  But first things first.  Cardinal O’Hara would have to win the Philly Catholic AAA League first and that won’t be an easy task.

Judging from Darden and Cardinal O’Hara’s performance during the pre-season, this could be their year.  The Lions will go as far as Darden can take them.  He’s looked very poised during his stints in the pre-season, throwing for two touchdowns and running in for another one.  He’s going to put a lot of pressure on defenses this years, especially when he is rolling out.  Expect Darden’s passing numbers to increase this year due to both his experience as a starter and the experienced skill players he has to work with this year.  Expect to hear a lot about the Darden to Thadd Smith connection in 2013.  Below are some highlights from his pre-season games.
