Delaware Elite – Pre-Season National Ranking – #18
Head Coach – Damon Daniels
As the state of Delaware as a whole fights for respect on the football field, the Delaware Elite 7v7 team has had no problem getting it in the past couple of years. Gone are a few of last year’s studs: Chris Godwin (Penn State commit), Brian O’Neill (Pitt commit), Conner Furey (Yale commit) and Darius Wade (Boston College commit). However, Delaware Elite’s cupboard isn’t exactly bare as it returns several key players from last year’s team. Preps.com takes a look at several of those players.
NOTE: This is based on players returning. The full rosters will be available later on this year.
Darnell Savage– Cornerback – Caravel Academy (DE) – 2015- 5’11”, 175
Savage currently holds an offer from Maryland. He reportedly ran a 4.38 at a Maryland camp last year. Unfortunately, he broke his leg during the second game of the season and missed the rest of the year. Virginia Tech, Penn State, Oregon, Clemson, West Virginia, USC, and Florida State have all shown interest in Savage.
Quadree Henderson – Wide Receiver –2015 – Dupont H.S. (DE) – 5’9”, 172
This very dynamic playmaker caught 31 catches for 851 yards and 10 touchdowns during the 2013 season. For all of you mathematicians, that’s a 27 yards per catch average. Henderson currently has offers from Clemson, Rutgers, and West Virginia. Although he’s not very big, he is very elusive and has excellent acceleration.
Jamir Washington – Cornerback – 2015 – Camden H.S. (NJ) – 5’11”, 160
Washington is a cornerback that probably should not be tested too often as he totaled over 5 interceptions during the 2013 season. Although he plays wide receiver as well, his meal ticket to a football scholarship will be through the cornerback position. His films shows that he can excel in either man or zone coverage and that he is good at reacting to the ball when it’s in the air.
Keyjuan “Deuce” Selby – Athlete- 2015 -St. Georges (DE)- 5’10”,150
One half of a dynamic duo (with his twin brother Taroon), Keyjuan Selby rushed for 771 yards and 11 touchdowns, while making 7 catches for 139 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. Selby also made 59 tackles (22 solo). Selby is a speedy athlete and will probably cause a lot of problems from the slot position in the upcoming months during 7v7 tournament season.
Taronn “Scooter” Selby – Athlete – 2015 -St. Georges (DE) – 5’10”, 150
Here’s the other half of that dynamic duo that is the Selby twins. Taronn Selby, a burner in his own right, ran for 1,396 yards and 18 touchdowns off of 134 carries during the 2013 season. He also caught 8 passes for 222 yeards and 5 receiving touchdowns. Taronn wasn’t a slouch on the defensive side of the ball either as he accounted for 55 tackles (25 solo) and 6 interceptions during the 2013 season.
Taylor Edwards – Wide Receiver – 2016 – Dupont (DE) 6’4”, 205
