Rutgers University has seen several of its one-time recruits renege on their verbal commitment to the school in the past several weeks.  The most notable was New Jersey wide receiver Saeed Blacknall flipping from Rutgers to Penn State last week.

As one of the top jewels in Rutgers 2014 class, running back Robert Martin, says he never wavered on his commitment and that other schools did not even try to make him change his mind.  Martin suffered a season-ending ACL injury during the first game of the 2013 season.  But that wasn’t the reason why schools didn’t bother to try and change his mind.  It was his steadfast commitment to Rutgers that convinced them that their efforts would be futile.

“They knew I was fully committed to Rutgers”, said Martin.  Martin has made a lot of progress in rehabbing his injury and expects to be ready for camp.  He said, “I’m looking to go to Rutgers in late May.  I should be cleared two months before camp.”

Martin was an all-state performer at the running back and linebacker positions during the 2012 season.  Martin has a bright future ahead of him and we at preps.com wish him the best at Rutgers University.
