It’s pretty hard to top a 2,000 yard/27 touchdown season. However, West Mifflin (PA) running back James Wheeler is well on his way to hitting and going beyond the 2,000 yard landmark in 2013.  In his first two games, Wheeler has gained 549 yards on 27 carries and has scored 5 rushing touchdowns.  The senior tailback opened the season with a 360 yard/2 touchdown performance against Laurel Highlands and followed it up with a 189 yard/3 touchdown performance against Belle Verlon.  Wheeler, who stands at 5’7″, 165 pounds, has an excellent burst and great acceleration. It’s one of the best I’ve seen so far while taking a look at prospects early in the 2013 season.  The only “knock” against him is his size but if he continues to put up the numbers, somebody is eventually going to pull the trigger on one of the most exciting players to watch in Pennsylvania.  Below are his 2-game highlights from this season.
