Preps.com will feature some of the up and coming talent from the state of New Jersey in our “Next Up” series. While a few of the kids may already be a househould name in recruiting circles, there are tons of diamonds in the rough that should make a name for themselves in the next year or so. Here’s a look at five of those players:
Elvis Hines – Paul VI High School- 5’9″, 150 (2017) – The fact that he started as a freshman for Paul VI as a defensive back should tell you a whole lot about his potential.
Jahmir King – Collingswood High School – 5’10”, 160 (2016) – King was a 1st-team All-Conference performer for the 2013 season. Unfortunately, he missed several games at the end of the 2013 season due to a broken ankle.
Neal Nelson – Buena High Scool – 6’3″, 215 (2015) – Was told that he will be a stud before it’s all said and done. Currently holds an offer from Old Dominion.
Ron Johnson – Camden High School – 6’3″, 225 (2016) – The super sophomore is a big-time recruit in the making. He currently holds an offer from Temple. Once the memo really gets out on this kid, he should reach double-digits in offers.
Sterling Sheffield – Clearview High School 6’2″, 215 (2015) – He’s played both wide receiver and quarterback, but he’s being recruited as an outside linebacker. Sheffield is considered to be a top 20 player in the state of New Jersey. He’s an aggressive player.
