Berwick High School in Pennsylvania has a storied history in football and has even won “mythical” high school National Championships in 1983, 1992, and 1995. Times have changed and even Berwick had to go through some rough times, as most high school football programs tend to go through every now and then. The “Dawgs” are looking to reclaim at least a small part of its glory days and one of the leaders of that cause is current Junior Will Updegrove.
Listed at 6’5”, 220 pounds, Updegrove is a jack-of-all-trades. Updegrove has been a Long Snapper, Tight End, and Defensive End for Berwick High School for the past two years. Having started every game since his sophomore year, Updegrove was switched to wide-side Defensive End during the 2012 season. Earlier this year, Updegrove earned an invite to the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Combine.
Updegrove has been attracting interest from Division 1 schools since his sophomore year. Schools that have come and watched him practice include: Penn State, Temple, Rutgers, and UMass.Cleezy’s extra point: Updegrove has the perfect size for a Division 1 caliber Defensive End. He will be one of the more dominant Defensive Ends in the eastern part of Pennsylvania this upcoming year. Don’t be surprised if he earns an offer or two before the start of the 2013 season.
