Steven Gonzalez (Union City High School om in New Jersey), a 2015 Offensive Lineman,  currently has offers from schools all up and down the East Coast except for one: Penn State.  Gonzalez, who is listed at 6’5″, 300 pounds, is currently a junior (2015)and widely considered the best offensive lineman in New Jersey.  I had a chance to talk with Gonzalez earlier tonight and from the looks of it, an offer could possibly be coming in the future.

Gonzalez was visited by one of Franklin’s assistants, Josh Gattis.  Gonzalez has several offers from schools including Rutgers, Pitt, South Carolina, and Ohio State.   It was surprising that Penn State hadn’t offered Gonzalez before, but the previous coaching staff may have had different players at different positions as a higher priority. At any rate, Gonzalez is a very strong player who excels at drive blocking and is also a good pass blocker.  Not one to rest on his laurels, Gonzalez recognizes he has some work to do in the off-season.

“I’m working on my flexibility and footwork”, said Gonzalez.  You won’t see too much of Gonzalez on the camp circuit in the upcoming months, but don’t be surprised at a Nike Training Camp in April.   Don’t be surprised if Penn State is added to the Gonzalez offer list real soon.

Check out his 2013 season highlights.
