One of the most hard-hitting and tough strong safeties to play high school football in 2013 in Pennsylvania has finally made a decision on where he’ll play college football in the fall of 2014. Takhi Turner, strong safety for Susquehanna Township, committed to Indiana University of Pennsylvania earlier today. Indiana (PA) boasts is one of the best Division 2 football programs in the Northeast and is part of the highly competitive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, also known as the PSAC.
“I had a chance to take an overnight visit about two weeks ago”, said Turner. Turner did receive looks from schools such as Temple and Maine (actually had an offer from them) but ultimately decided to go with IUP.
When asked about what IUP liked about him, Turner said, “They liked the fact that I could play on the hashes and also come down and make plays in the backfield.” Turner is one of those players you want on your defense because hes’ a leader, gives it his all, can tackle, and and cover as well. There were several things that Turner liked about IUP that influenced his decision.
“Their head coach was an assistant at Alabama when they won the National Championship in 2009”, said Turner. “Their defensive coach has been there for a long time and knows what he is doing. They just win.”
