Jade Maher wasn’t a marquee name in the recruiting world. Some part of it could have been because he played on a Connellsville team that was far less than stellar. He wasn’t recruited heavily by many FBS schools, making him very under the radar. However, Maher has been a bright spot on that team for years. With most of his recruitment being from 1-AA schools, Maher went ahead and committed to Virginia Military Institute a few weeks ago. He picked VMI because of his comfort with the coaching staff and the academic the school has to offer. He also feels as though he has a good shot to play early.
Maher has great size and speed for a quarterback. At 6’5, he is one of the taller QBs PA has to offer. His strengths are when he is out of the pocket to where he has the option to tuck the ball or throw the ball. He can throw the ball well on the run and stand tall in the pocket reading coverages. We expect Maher to perform well in college with D1 talent surrounding him.
