Every year, there are a few key recruits in the wpial that everybody seems to be keeping an eye on.  This year is no different.  Though it is looking as if the WPIAL doesn’t have a top 25 overall recruit this year (i.e. Rushel Shell, DRob Foster, Terrelle Pryor, ect.), this class still has some marquee names.

Jordan Whitehead (Central Valley): Whitehead has all the measurables you’re looking for in a star cornerback.  He also makes an impact in the return game, whoever lands Whitehead will surely have a lockdown corner for years to come.  Early favorites: Ohio State, Pitt, Alabama.

Sterling Jenkins (Baldwin):  Jenkins has all the potential in the world.  At 6’8 305, Jenkins is one of the most sought after tackles in the nation.  With colleges drooling over his potential, look for him to land somewhere and develop into something special.  Early favorites: Ohio State, Penn State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Pitt, Michigan.

PJ Fulmore (North Catholic):  The Honey Badger Jr. is one of preps.com’s favorite recruits.  Fulmore always seems to be the guy making the game changing or game winning (see the state title 2 point conversion) play.  Despite lacking size, Fulmore makes up for it with his intangibles.  Whoever lands PJ will land a special talent.  Early favorites: Pitt, Duquesne.

Kevin Givens (Altoona):  Another preps.com favorite, Givens is one of the most polished linebackers to come out of the WPIAL in years.  Givens is a talent any coach would love on his roster.  Look for his recruitment to start heating up and for Givens to end up with 20+ offers.  Early offers include Pitt, Temple and Penn State.  Early favorites: Penn State, Pitt.

Tre Tipton (Apollo Ridge): Tipton is one of the most overlooked athletes in the state.  Turn on his tape, there is nothing phony about his game.  Expect Tipton to start getting major buzz once colleges start really digging into the 2015 class.  Early favorites: Pitt, Miami.
