Finestpreps.com has been eyeing up Pennsylvania looking for top talent to bring you coverage about.  One prospect that has slipped through the cracks of the recruiting world is Freedom athlete Kahlil Caracter.  Caracter is not named on many top-recruiting sites, and this is a travesty.  Kahlil is currently ranked #20 on our WPIAL Top Prospects Rankings.  Finestpreps got a chance to meet up with Kahlil to not only discuss his recruitment, but to also try and get his name in the public’s eye.

Kahlil Caracter is a 5’8’’ electrifying athlete from Freedom high school in the WPIAL.  Caracter demonstrates speed and great quickness that will translate well into the next level.  He plays runningback for Freedom as of now but he is comfortable to switching to receiver in college if he has to.  Caracter displays quickness coming out of the backfield and is at his best when he gets the ball in the open field. He is that type of player that you do not want to show a crease of daylight because he will take and make you pay.  He has yet to receive his first offer from a college, but look for this to change in the upcoming months once we get into camp/7-on-7 season.

As for now, Kahlil plays at Freedom high school.  The team is coming off of a 4-6 season and is losing 9 starters, which is somewhat of a concern for Kahlil.  He is pondering transferring schools to Renaissance Christian Academy, a new school opening up this year that has already scooped up a few 2014 WPIAL prospects to play football for them.  He is not certain if he will go through with the transfer but there is always the possibility.

Goals for Kahlil this year in football are simple for him; “Play harder.”  He then went on to say, “last year I suffered from some injuries so I’m trying to avoid that and play at 100%.”

Recruitment for Caracter has been moderate as of now.  Teams showing interest include Pitt, Penn State, Temple, Bowling Green, and Ohio; all of which have been to his school.  Bowling Green and Temple have cooled off on his recruitment but he stated all the others keep in contact with him.  He isn’t necessarily sure what exactly he is looking for in a college but when asked what type of offense he is looking for he replied, “Just a nice running game.  I can play receiver if the team needs me to though.”

Caracter plans on playing for 7-on-7 teams and going to combines in the summer to further his looks.  He stated he was invited to the Rivals.com combine and plans on attending that and said he might make an appearance at an Under Armour combine as well.

Finestpreps.com will be keeping a close eye on Kahlil as his recruitment will continue to develop and will be sure to update everybody on his status throughout the season.  Below are highlights of his junior season.
