It is no secret that since former Gateway coach Terry Smith got hired at Temple, the Owls made it clear that they wanted top WPIAL talent on their turf.  After getting one of the most shocking pledges in the state in Anthony Davis, who held 20+ offers including some schools from the SEC, Temple is at it again.  After already having 3 WPIAL commits, all from the same school: Gateway, Temple is trying to add 4 more, this time all from another Pennsylvania powerhouse, the Aliquippa Quips.  It is clear Temple was trying to make a statement with these offers to get prized recruit Dravon Henry’s attention.  Mission Accomplished.

PREPS.COM was the first to report the Owls offering the four Aliquippa standouts; Dravon Henry, Jaleel Fields, Terry Swanson, and Jyier Turner after @WPIAL_Insider tweeted about it after confirming it with sources close to the situation.  What made this package deal so unique was the offering of Jyier Turner.  Turner is in the shadow of the two-headed monster in the backfield in Dravon Henry and Terry Swanson, but make no mistake about it, Turner can ball.  Preps.com has regarded him as one of the most underrated prospects in the state of PA.

It is no secret Coach Rhule and Coach Smith offered this package with two main focuses, getting the state’s best player in Dravon Henry and establishing a new pipeline in Aliquippa, the most sought after pipeline in the state that near-by Pitt controls.  Teams have tried getting a two player, and even a three player packaged deal with the Quips, but to no avail.  The missing component was Jyier Turner.  Dravon has made it clear several times that he would like to play with his current teammates at the next level.  Temple looks to be going out on a limb here to get the state’s best player.  The missing piece to Dravon’s interest for most schools was Jyier Turner. Turner is one of Dravon Henry’s closest friends, and he made it evident that Temple will be on his mind when discussing what college he will attend next fall.  Dravon even went to twitter and said, “Just got this package deal offer with my bros @rayon_8 @Fields_70 @Tswan_12 I’m really thinking Bout going to this school now.”

After talking with Aliquippa’s Terry Swanson, he feels as though Temple may not be the last team to extend an offer to the four prospects.  He feels that if the Quips can put together another dominant season, another school or two might follow suit and offer the 4 standouts.

With Dravon Henry’s recruitment all over the place as of recent, Temple clearly took advantage of his current situation and made an offer (literally) that Dravon feels is very hard to decline.  For more information regarding the Quips and Temple recruiting, be sure to check back at preps.com for more updates.
