Early this morning Washington High running back Shai McKenzie received the results of his MRI stating that McKenzie has torn his Anterior Cruuciate Ligament or “ACL” in his right knee, and will miss the remainder of his senior season.
Mckenzie is considered the Top running back in Pennsylvania, and so far has rushed for 650 yards in three games this season. Before suffering his injury McKenzie was on track to rush for over 3,000 yards this season.
With suffering a major injury to his knee some speculation now arrises regarding as to where McKenzie will play his college football? And when he will announce his decision? Because of the injury it seems as if Shai will be announcing his commitment sooner rather than later, It would be a smart move on McKenzie’s half to announce his college decision earlier than he had originally planned because of the possibility of schools pulling their scholarships. McKenzie recently narrowed his final schools down to Pitt, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Arkansas. Pitt being the hometown team in this case have seemed to have a slight lead on Mckenzie since the summer. With the Panthers offense being heavily run based it seems like a perfect fit for McKenzie.
No final decision has been made, but it seems more than likely that the top back in PA is going to make a commitment to The University of Pittsburgh.
