When it comes to football phenoms in the class of 2013 recruiting class–there are few bigger than Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native Robert Foster.
Blessed with a lethal combination of speed and acceleration in the open field–Foster is the type of playmaker that will leave opposing defensive coordinators tossing and turning in their beds at night.
He racked up 943 all-purpose yards last season as a sophomore for Central Valley (406 rushing, 520 receiving, 17 passing).
Currently a sophomore, the recruiting process still has a ways to go for the dynamic playmaker but he’s already started to pick up plenty of early attention from college coaches.
He recently landed verbal scholarship offers from the Pitt Panthers and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
FinestPreps.com caught up with the class of 2013 phenom to discuss what he thinks about those offers, his recruitment process, and other topics.
What did he have to say?
Below is the interview.
FinestPreps.com Interview with Central Valley ATH Robert Foster
FinestPreps.com: Talk about the new offer you recently got from the Pitt Panthers.
Robert Foster: “It’s a good opportunity. I mean it’s real stressful because I’m only a sophomore and I’m getting looks from colleges already.”
FinestPreps.com: Has any other school told you they are close to offering you?
Robert Foster: “No, not really.”
FinestPreps.com: Were you at the Penn State Nike Camp recently, Rob?
Robert Foster: “Yeah.”
FinestPreps.com: Talk about your experience there.
Robert Foster: “I feel I did pretty well.”
FinestPreps.com: Who are the some more talented players you went up against Rob?
Robert Foster: “I didn’t really know any of them. They were all talented and they showed they had talent.”
FinestPreps.com: Rob what do you think about Mark Ingram being named the cover of NCAA Football?
Robert Foster: “I don’t even know. I mean it’s good.”
FinestPreps.com: Rob are you doing anymore visits to any other schools over the summer or doing any more camps?
Robert Foster: “Yeah I think I am. I think I’m gonna visit Ohio State, Pitt, and Penn State. I’ve been to Penn State already because of the Nike camp.”
FinestPreps.com: Talk about your visit to Penn State Rob. Did you like the campus?
Robert Foster: “Yeah I really did like the campus–it was real big. It was quiet. It was cool. It was real cool.”
FinestPreps.com: When do you think you’ll visit Ohio State, Rob?
Robert Foster: “I don’t really know. Hopefully soon because I really want to visit up there. I really do.”
FinestPreps.com: What do you think about the Ohio State Buckeyes Rob?
Robert Foster: “They’re good. They’re real good. They’re really, really good. That would be one of the teams that I would like to play for. I’m not saying that I’m gonna go there but that would be one of the teams that I would love to play for.”
FinestPreps.com: Do you feel the camp helped your development as a player?
Robert Foster: “Yeah I felt that the camp really did help me a lot. As the days go on I practice catching and I used to be okay catching the ball but now I feel like I’m consistent with catching the football now.”
As a sophomore, Foster hauled in a team-leading 25 catches and averaged 20.8 yards per catch.
