The state of Pennsylvania is well known for cranking out some of America’s top high school football talent and FinestPreps.com is happy to introduce you to another one of Pennsylvania’s finest for the 2012 recruiting class.

Who’s the latest prospect we caught up with?

That would be none other than Penn Hills (Pittsburgh, Pa.) athlete Corey Jones–a player that stuffed the stat sheet with stunning numbers during his junior season.

Jones shredded his opponents to the tune of over 2,100 all-purpose yards his junior season and racked up 16 total touchdowns.

On defense he also snatched up six interceptions for Penn Hills.

Once the football in his hands, Jones uses his lethal combination of speed, acceleration, and cutting ability to leave defenders in his wake.

The 5’9, 170 pound playmaker is a threat to take the football to the end zone every time he gets to touch the rock.

Last season he lined up in a variety of positions for Penn Hills–lining up at quarterback, wide receiver, running back, kick returner, and as a defensive back.

Simply put, the Pittsburgh native can get it done from all areas of the football field!

FinestPreps.com caught up with the explosive playmaker for a few minutes recently to discuss his college football recruitment process.

Below is the interview.

FinestPreps.com Interview with Penn Hills ATH Corey Jones

FinestPreps.com: Talk about how the college football recruitment process is going for you.

Corey Jones: “I like it. It’s kind of exciting. I’ve got four offers so far. I have Kent State, West Virginia, Kansas, and Toledo. I just went there (Toledo) this past weekend.”

FinestPreps.com: Do you have any favorites as far as the recruiting process is concerned Corey?

Corey Jones: “Not right now. I like Florida State a lot.”

FinestPreps.com: Have their coaches talked about being interested in offering?

Corey Jones: “Yeah they talk to me a little bit. They sent me a couple e-mails but that’s it.”

FinestPreps.com: So basically if Florida State were to offer do you think you’d commit to the Seminoles?

Corey Jones: “I don’t know. There’s a big chance I might but then I would have to think and see where else I would be comfortable at–to get early playing time. If they were to give me early playing time I would probably commit to them because then I could play early–like my freshman year.”

FinestPreps.com: Tell me what you like so much about Florida State, Corey?

Corey Jones: “I just like their offense. When I was younger I used to like that they were the same color as my team. Growing up I just always saw myself playing for them. I like the ACC. I like their conference. It looks like there’s a lot of challenge there.”

FinestPreps.com: Corey were you at the Pitt Spring game this weekend?

Corey Jones: “Yeah I was.”

FinestPreps.com: Talk about that experience of visiting Pitt for the spring game.

Corey Jones: “Well we came from a whole lot of other colleges so I was a little tired. From what I saw I like them. I like how their offense–it looks like it’s going to put up a lot of points. I’m really interested in Pitt–the only thing is Pitt hasn’t be showing me any love. I don’t know why.”

FinestPreps.com: What kind of role models for football have you had growing up?

Corey Jones: Chad Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Percy Harvin, people like that.”

FinestPreps.com: What’s the biggest part of your game you’re trying to improve heading into next season?

Corey Jones: “I’m just trying to get quicker and a little stronger.”
