When discussing elite football prospects in the 2012 recruiting class, you have to mention Stefon Diggs out of Good Counsel (Olney, Maryland).
The 6’1″, 185 pound wideout earned the coveted five-star ranking from Rivals.com and is currently rated as the 8th best overall prospect in the nation, according to Rivals.com.
It’s hard to fathom that there are seven players in America more talented than Diggs. There are no true flaws in Stefon’s game.
He runs routes with precision and blinding quickness, getting in and out of his breaks at top speed.
He displays soft, reliable hands throughout his highlight package below and makes everything look so easy and smooth.
The talented receiver can make the spectacular grab look commonplace and he also has the necessary toughness to go across the middle of the field.
Diggs isn’t physically imposing but he’s still very difficult to jam because he gets off the line of scrimmage so quickly.
He’s very versatile and you could line him up out wide or slide him into the slot.
The gifted receiver is a legitimate deep threat as well.
Stefon combines excellent body control and ball skills with his 39 inch vertical leap and 4.45 speed–making him very tough to handle in one on one situations.
Diggs is very aggressive and will battle defensive backs to ensure he comes down with the football.
A dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands, he can take it to the house from anywhere on the field, as evidenced time and time again on his film.
His tremendous field vision and ankle splitting moves make him nearly impossible to tackle one on one.
He’s quick as a hiccup, can stop on a dime, and leave defenders grasping at air.
Diggs’ elusiveness will most likely have him returning kicks from day one in college.
He also has good straight line speed to go with his slippery moves. Simply put, he’s the total package.
Stefon has the swagger of a number one receiver–he’s very confident and plays with an edge. He has the instincts and physical abilities to be an outstanding safety or cornerback as well but he’s too gifted at wide receiver to play him anywhere else.
Coming off a junior season where he totaled 1613 all-purpose yards and 23 tds, it’s no surprise he has dozens of offers.
NFL factories like Miami, Va. Tech., Florida, Georgia Notre Dame, Michigan, and many other have thrown their hats in the ring for Diggs’ services. He has already committed to playing in the presitgious 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl–an all-star game comprised of the nation’s top high school football talent.
Whichever lucky school gets a commitment from the Our Lady Of Good Counsel star will be adding one of the most explosive playmakers in recent memory to their 2012 recruiting class.
