FinestPreps.com has been providing some top notch coverage of the gridiron studs of tomorrow in the Pittsburgh area!

Today, we dive back into our bread-and-butter as we take a look at another member of the 2012 recruiting class from that area.

We’ve already profiled a few of his teammates on FinestPreps.

Who’s the other member of the Penn Hills Indians you should be watching out for?

That would be none other than Penn Hills (Pittsburgh, Pa.) athlete Malik Blakeman.

Blakeman is on a talented Penn Hills squad which included the likes of Chaz Whittaker and Corey Jones–two talented players that have already been profiled on FinestPreps.

The 5’8, 170 pounder plays running back for Penn Hills–he’s got excellent field vision and speed in the open field on his highlight tape.

He’s extremely gifted as a defensive back as well.

The talented athlete has tremendous ball skills and instincts at the cornerback position.

It’s easy to see his ball skills when watching his highlight tape below.

There’s a play in his highlight tape when he snatches an interception at the 10 yard line and returns it all the way to the 29 yard line before being tackled.

Blessed with an excellent vertical jump, the last play on the tape–he leaps backwards, tipping the ball to awaiting teammate Chaz Whittaker for the interception.

His vertical leap is no joke folks.

On March 27th, Blakeman recently posted a 38.2 inch vertical jump at the 2011 Nike SPARQ Combine in Pittsburgh, Pa.

That was good enough for the best vertical leap of anybody at the combine–which consisted of players from the 2012 and 2013 recruiting classes.

Not only that–the gifted defensive back also finished with the 7th best SPARQ rating of any of the participants with an overall score of 92.34.

The SPARQ rating is a measurement Nike uses at its combines to determine a participant’s overall athleticism.

Currently, Blakeman doesn’t have any scholarship offers but we would be suprised if he didn’t end up with any after it’s all said and done!

Look for the recruiting process to heat up sometime in the future for the talented Penn Hills standout!
