FinestPreps has promised to deliver you some of the top notch coverage of high school football recruits across America and their journey through the recruitment process!

Today we unveil a new series that we recently decided to start at FinestPreps called the Recruiting Diary.

The recruiting diary will basically be told through the eyes of the prospect who is in the middle of their recruitment process.

The prospect will be sharing with us their thoughts about the different coaches, schools, and camps they encounter throughout the recruitment process.

I recently approached Charles “Fast” Davis out of Avon High School (Avon, Indiana) with this idea since he will be traveling to so many schools this summer and going to so many camps.

Still searching for that first scholarship offer, Davis has decided to take a pro-active approach this summer and attend as many camps as possible.

The talented Indiana tailback has graciously agreed to share with FinestPreps his thoughts and feelings as he hits up the camp circuit this summer.

His first stop was a camp at Middle Tennessee State in Murfeesburo, Tennessee–home of the MTSU Blue Raiders.

What did Charles have to say about the trip?

Check his report below!

RECRUITING DIARY

BY CHARLES “FAST” DAVIS (RUNNING BACK–AVON HIGH SCHOOL)–CLASS OF 2012

SUMMARY OF CAMP EXPERIENCE: Going to Tennessee was a great experience and I enjoyed myself. While I was there, I ran into some of my old friends from my 7-on-7 team–running back Quinta (Thomas) aka Preach. I also ran into Zach (Zachary Terrell) who was one of the best quarterbacks I saw there. Another talented player I saw there was Logan Cunningham–kid is just a beast period offers will come for him soon.

The MTSU coaches were pretty much in love with me. I displayed great hands, ability to beat the press, also some cutback ability.

In my opinion and a couple others’ opinions, I was by far was the best skill player there. I ended up getting fastest man with a 4.45 forty yard dash time.

THE DRIVE: The drive in worried me because my stepfather drives so slow and he stops too much. I ended up going down with a friend–Marcellus Williams–a free safety from my high school (Avon High School).

THE CAMPUS: Campus was really nice for the most part. There were a few things I didn’t like such as how small the weight room was there. That made me think that they probably don’t take lifting too seriously. That’s a negative in my book. They had 12 uniforms that players could choose from which was a plus. Black on black was my favorite.

RECRUITMENT/OFFER: While I was there Coach (Nick) Coleman drilled it in my head, ‘Hey you have to run a 4.4 anything and you’re pretty much a lock for an offer. So I ran a 4.45 easy while killing it in drills and one on ones. I set myself apart from everyone. Coaches told me to call them on Tuesday. I ended up talking to Coach (Nick) Coleman before that and I asked what he thought was going to happen with the offer. He told me that they liked me a lot and they’re going to wait to offer me because they want to see how the summer goes. They also said that I’m really high on their board. He also told me that the head coach (Rick Stockstill) and offensive coordinator/running backs coach (Willie Simmons) said they told him to start recuiting me harder–which he said he will do. I’m blessed with ability and I’m just happy to be a part of all of this.

On to Temple next week:)
