Reggie Mitchell of Shady Side Academy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had just recently landed his first Division I-A scholarship offer.
It turns out that he won’t be waiting around for other teams to pursue his services.
He loved his recent camp experience up there so much that he decided to end his recruitment process early.
When did he decide to commit?
Late last night (1:00 a.m.) Mitchell decided to formally commit to the Wisconsin Badgers coaching staff for football.
His father made the announcement via his Facebook page.
Mitchell is a member of the 2012 recruiting class.
He also had scholarship offers from a few Division I-AA (FCS) programs in Villanova and Duquesne.
Blessed with tremendous footwork, the gifted defensive back has an extremely high ceiling at the position.
Currently listed at 6’0″, 175 pounds, Mitchell is one of the top “under-the-radar” prospects in the 2012 recruiting class.
He currently doesn’t have a rating by scouting services such as Rivals.com.
Mitchell plays quarterback and defensive back for Shady Side Academy (Pittsburgh, Pa.).
As a quarterback, he rushed for over 600 rushing yards last season.
He also tossed for over 550 passing yards.
As a defensive back, he snatched up five interceptions for the Shady Side Indians.
Mitchell is the 8th commitment in the 2012 recruiting class for the Wisconsin Badgers–according to Rivals.com.
He will play defensive back for the Badgers.
He joins fellow Pittsburgh native–Arthur Goldberg (Mount Lebanon) as the Badgers most recent commitments for football.
